Danny Dietz Memorial in Berry Park

This memorial is a must-see for all visitors to Littleton. The larger-than-life bronze statue honors Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny Phillip Dietz Jr., who grew up in Littleton, graduated from Heritage High School, and was a U.S. Navy SEAL. As the plaque states: “Danny was awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism while serving in a four-man Special Reconnaissance Team in Afghanistan in 2005. Petty Officer Dietz fought valiantly against a numerically superior enemy force, defending his team in a harrowing gunfight, until he was mortally wounded.” (The 2013 movie Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg is based on the 2005 event.)
